Silver Nano Fridge Filter - Carbon Block

The Silver Nano Fridge Filter, like other carbon-based fridge filters, will remove chlorine and organic molecules (bad odours and tastes) from water. However, unlike other standard inline fridge filters, the activated carbon is impregnated with Silver nanoparticles.

Standard carbon filters have a major vulnerability: they trap organic matter, creating a dark, wet, and nutrient-rich environment. This turns the inside of a regular filter into a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, forming a slimy layer called a biofilm. This is why the normal fridge filter cartridges need to be replaced every 6 months* or so, due to the potential growth of organisms on the carbon.

The Silver Nano filter's silver nanoparticles use a bacteriostatic process to help both inhibit and prevent the growth of bacteria on the carbon's surface. Silver nanoparticles continuously release tiny, positively charged silver ions (Ag+). These ions bind to the negatively charged cell walls of bacteria, weakening the wall and causing the cell to rupture.

So while your typical standard carbon fridge filter has a lifespan of 3 to 6 months*, a Silver Nano Carbon Filter's lifespan will be 6 to 12 months*.

*Please keep in mind that the lifespans are based on municipal quality source water, and in situations with very poor quality source water, the lifespans of these filters will be far less.

Features:

  • Serves as a replacement for several inline fridge filters, such as the Samsung DA29-10105J and the LG ADQ73693903, etc.
  • The Silver Nano Fridge Filter requires the quick-release push-in fittings to be installed.
  • The Silver Nano Fridge Filter is designed to be attached to 1/4 Inch Piping (6mm)
  • The Silver Nano Fridge Filter will remove chlorine and organic molecules, improving the smell and taste of the water.
  • The Silver Nano Fridge Filter has silver nanoparticles embedded in the filter, making it more resistant to bacteria growth in the filter thus doubling the lifespan of the filter. This saves you time and money.

Silver Nano Carbon Block versus Granular Silver Nano:

The Silver Nano Carbon Filters come in two different versions: Silver Nano Carbon Block & the Granular Silver Nano Carbon.

Both versions will remove Chlorine, organic molecules, and sediment. And both versions use Silver Nanoparticles to help inhibit and prevent the growth of bacteria inside of the filter.

There are, however, several key differences between them;

Carbon Dust and Flushing Time:

The Granular Silver Nano Filter contains loose, individual granules of carbon (think of it like coarse sand or coffee grounds). Because the particles can shift and rub against each other during shipping and handling, they create a lot of fine carbon dust. That's why it requires a longer initial flush—usually a few gallons or several minutes—until the water runs clear.

Whereas the Silver Nano Carbon Block uses the same carbon and silver nanoparticles, but it is instead compressed with a binding agent into a solid, rigid block. Because the carbon is locked in place, there is almost no friction between particles, resulting in drastically less carbon dust and a much quicker flushing time.

Filteration Effectiveness:

Because Granular Silver Nano Carbon (GAC) consists of loose particles, water will naturally find the easiest path through them. Over time, water carves a literal "channel" through the granules. Once this happens, the water rushes through that single path, bypassing most of the carbon and silver, drastically reducing the filter's effectiveness.

The Silver Nano Carbon block, on the other hand, is a solid, uniform wall of carbon. So water cannot create a shortcut; it is forced to pass evenly through microscopic pores. This ensures maximum contact time with both the carbon and the anti-bacterial silver nanoparticles, resulting in a much more consistent filtration effectiveness over time.
